If you are reading this page you are probably thinking about joining a choir – we hope that you will come along to one of our rehearsals to find out all about us. You will be warmly welcomed and introduced to other members. You don’t need to have sung in a choir before, but just be interested in trying it out.

Our choir is not just about singing! We are very proud that we are a community choir – we have a strong community ethos amongst our members and we support each other and as a community we all have a part to play. It is also important to us that we contribute to the wider community and we endeavour to do this in many and various ways.

We meet on Thursdays at 7.15pm and finish at about 9.15pm. Most rehearsals are at Chafyn Grove School in Bourne Avenue in Salisbury. You can park in the street and in the first car park at the lower end of the school, but not in the inner car park next to the tennis courts, as this car park is reserved for people using the sports hall.

The music we sing ranges from Mozart to Abba, both sacred and popular, as well as specially commissioned works. There really is something for everyone! Our rehearsals are to prepare us for performances; we usually organise three concerts a year, as well as other performances and events.

You are welcome to just come along for a couple of trial rehearsals to see if you like it, but it is often a good idea to contact the Membership Secretary beforehand so that we know to look out for you, as it might be a bit daunting. At the start of the rehearsal the Membership Secretary will take some details from you and then find you a seat and introduce you to some choir members.

Like most choirs, we have 4 parts: Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass, and each of those has a first and a second section. Don’t worry if you’re not sure where your voice fits, you can always change later. And don’t worry if you’ve never sung before as you will be amazed at how quickly you pick it up. But if you are finding it difficult let us know and we’ll find someone to help.

The annual subscription is currently £170.

This can be paid by Bacs or by cheque. If you join part way through the year (which runs from September ) you will be asked to pay a proportion of the annual subscription. This subscription covers the cost of new music needed by the choir in the year. We may also sing music we have performed in previous years and new members will be asked to purchase these items from the music librarian.

Once you have been to a maximum of three trial rehearsals you need to decide if you like the choir and want to join. The Membership Secretary will process your membership form and payment. Once this is processed you will then have access to the members area of the website and we will make sure you are on the choir email list, so that you are kept up to date with information. If you don’t have access to email, let us know so we can make alternative arrangements.

We are a large choir and due to the restrictions on venue capacities we occasionally have to control the number of new members, we will then operate a waiting list.
